Battery and power controls
The battery provides electricity. Capacity is measured in mAh, but a higher number doesn't always mean longer battery life. Power settings and daily use also matter.
Pod or tank
The pod or tank stores your e-liquid. Pods usually click or slide into place, while many tanks screw onto the battery.
Coil and wick
The coil heats the liquid, while the wick keeps it supplied. Many coils use cotton, and some use mesh heating elements.
Mouthpiece and airflow
The mouthpiece is where you inhale. Airflow controls, when available, let you make the draw tighter or looser.
Charging port, buttons and display
These features vary between kits. Some devices have no buttons at all, while others show power, battery level and coil information.
The OXVA XLIM Pro 2 Pod Kit is one example of a modern pod system available at Ejuice Couture.
How Do Vape Kits Work?
Vape kits work by using battery power to heat e-liquid inside a coil. The heated liquid creates an aerosol that travels through the mouthpiece.
Here's what happens when you use one:
- The device activates. You press a button or inhale, depending on the kit.
- The battery supplies power. Electricity reaches the heating coil.
- The coil heats the liquid. The wick supplies e-liquid to the heating element.
- The aerosol travels upwards. Air carries it through the mouthpiece when you inhale.
Some e-cigarettes start automatically when you draw on the mouthpiece. Others require you to hold a button.
The process is similar across most vape kits, but the exact operation depends on the design. Some let you adjust the power, while simpler models manage it automatically.
Vaping does not involve burning tobacco, but the aerosol is not harmless.
What Are the Different Types of Vape Kits?
The four main types of reusable vape kits are prefilled pod kits, refillable pod kits, vape pens and advanced kits. Each has different controls, maintenance needs and running costs.
1. Prefilled pod kits
Prefilled pod kits use cartridges that already contain e-liquid. When one runs empty, you replace it with a compatible pod.
They need little maintenance because there is no manual filling. However, your flavour choices depend on the replacement pods available for that particular device.
You can explore different models in Ejuice Couture's prefilled vape kits range.
2. Refillable pod kits
Refillable pod kits let you fill the pod with a compatible bottled e-liquid. This gives you more choice over flavour and nicotine strength.
You need to refill the pod and replace its coil or complete cartridge when it wears out.
Small refillable devices, including those in the pod kits collection, are often easy to carry.
3. Vape pen kits
Vape pens are slim, pen-shaped devices. Many have a refillable tank and a simple button, although some activate automatically.
The Innokin Endura T18 X Starter Kit is an example of this style.
Vape pens can be straightforward to operate, but their coils still need replacing.
4. Advanced kits and box mods
Advanced vape kits offer more control over settings such as wattage. Some also support replaceable batteries and different tanks.
These devices can require more setup and knowledge of coil compatibility.
The Vaporesso Armour Ultra 100W Vape Kit is one example in this category.

Prefilled vs Refillable Pod Kits: What's the Difference?
Prefilled pods arrive with e-liquid already inside, while refillable pods let you add your own liquid.
